George, we can but I doubt any of our guys were there and if so, I'd doubt they would engage into much backseat quarterbacking which usually ensues after a crash like this. Fact is that there are lots of airplanes piloted by lots of different pilots at events such as JC. Proper pattern and performance planning are key to operations on fields like this. Add to that the pressure of basically having every single approach and landing watched and critiqued by peers. The mix can be too much. An early go around isn't as shameful as being trapped in a wreck, waiting to be cut out.

All in all it looks like a pretty good outcome, considering what could have happened.

Maybe someone else has other ideas or pointers.

Yeah, Brian is a nice guy. But he flies a Skyhawk. ;-)

I like you guys, too! :)

Yeah. that TriPacer I trained in got all bent up and is in the scrap heap now I think... Student pilot veered off the runway during takeoff and flipped it (he was OK, though).

That was a fun plane, if a bit tight for a student and instructor. The Force is a much nicer plane, but I do miss the Johnson bar flaps, the trim wheel, and the pull handle for the brakes... :)

And of course finding the master switch. Not good in turbulence due to the short slab wings also.

I'll second that! I remember my first solo outside the pattern. Nice warm day and the little Tri was getting tossed around like nothing. That was an incredibly nerve-wracking experience.
