Hi Tom,

Great pictures. As you might have notice by not having any posts yesterday, I was not on the computer. I almost never get sick, but I go this crazy virus that is going around and it took an IV drip for hours to re-hydrate me. Now, if I can just keep some food down and in.

Tom that is an amazing journey. You bought a Champ and in less then 9 months you found skis and got them rigged and then flew on them in under a month. I didn't know that was possible with a Champ :D

Finally got the video edited from last Sunday, Had some problems getting the camera to start and stop a few times. I'ts a little long but it's three and a half hours cut down to this. Hope you like it

10 of us met at Speculator NY for breakfast and then headed up to Saranac Lake the long way following the lakes. It was -25 at Saranac at 7am but had warmed up by the time we got there at noon. We headed back down to 7th lake where Rich and Scott Revoir made us lunch. The weather was awesome.

Don't forget the 200 hours from around the weekend of lockhaven to now, flying to new Holstein/ Oshkosh (remember the place you drove out to :shtstrm: ) down to grahams OBP flyin and the usual home flyin's, except phills. :D

I've been busy. Best part about the chump and skis, they fit in the back, along with the jack and all that stuff.

Not bad for 9 months. Can't wait to see what next year brings, Sucks someday i will have to get a real job and stop screwing off...

For those interested here's some more on the Waco project.

Homebuilt. It's a SRE with a 450 PW. He started 8 years ago with drawing he got from the Smithsonion. He has built everything himeself. All the aluminum castings he carved wooden molds and cast the parts himself, logo rudder pedals, yokes, and something like 32 flap and aileron hinges. Over 13,000 hours so far. Half way through it he got a little burned out and in 6 months restored a J5 just for kicks and then jumped back on the Waco. I think the only things he has bought were the 450 Pratt and the landing gear oleos are modified C310 gear. Mike is 70 years old and is a machine when it come to building airplanes. He say's it will fly by the end of summer and I believe it will.

14 months ago our EAA chapter was invited over to take a look. He had it all together for a final assembly. he does most of the parts fabrication in his basement but a lot of the work is done in his unheated upstate NY hangar.

You get some great pictures Glenn. We have a dusting still on the wet ground. Maybe I should drive up and let you slep me around in the Cub.

Looks a little like the American Base Camp on the Antartic Cap! Just think, in a couple of months it will be time for the early Northeast Splash in that I know you will plan so well again.

Glenn,

Warwick Tube and Fabric Fly-In is scheduled for May 11th and I think that the first Cooperstown Fly In Breakfast is on May 18th (did I get it right finally?) and then Memoerial Day weekend is the following, so I would think we need to plan around those dates.

Did he use the wood molds to form sand molds or something else for the molten aluminum?
