Winter trip to the lodge

Unread postby akavidflyer » Fri Mar 07, 2014 4:29 pm

I flew up to my buddies lodge http://www.alaskafishcreeklodge.com for super bowl weekend to hang out and watch the game. Was a great trip that ended with me grabbing the wrong satellite receiver from home so no game to watch, but it was a great weekend anyways (what little of it I remember) LOL.

Headed West over Cook Inlet on my way to dry ground. Oil and Gas platforms are scattered through the upper inlet

Over the mouth of McArthur river headed north towards the lodge

Breaking over the ridge on the West side of Sleeping lady headed into the Yentna River Valley

On the lodge deck looking at Mt. Foraker on the left and Mt. McKinley on the right through the tree branches. A view I never get tired of seeing!

Warming the ole 2 stroke up for the trip home.

I would add more pics, but they are all pretty much the same except the mountains are off the other wing

Another great trip to my favorite spot on earth hanging out with great friends. JJ you should come visit one of these years, there are a few German and Swiss guys that have cabins on the lake that hang out at the lodge quite a bit in the summer time. Having a translator when the beverages start flowing would be a bonus for us!

That looks like quite the lodge/cabins on the website. What plane is that on the Full Lotus skis?

That would be my Avid a few years ago. It is an awesome lodge with awesome owners that make the trip all about you. The best part is its just like Vegas.. what happens there stays there until some member of your party puts pics and videos on the web

Looks like a wonderful place, except the sand on the beach looks a little uneven!

Great pictures. Looks a lot like in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. The only thing missing is Glenn. :rain:

There has been more than one trip to the lodge that was done at less than ideal conditions... In fact, my first trip there I was following a buddy of mine who is a long time 135 guy with close to 20k hours flying all over this state.. we hit a snow storm and he elected to set down in a swamp and wait it out, I flew in circles looking for him after we lost radio contact (his coax came off the antenna so he could hear me but I couldnt hear him) I gave up and pressed on to the lodge another 50 or so miles in the river bed keeping the trees within 100' of the wing tip so I could have a point of reference.. I flew back out the next day when it cleared up and found him AOK and shakin his head that I kept on... I think Glen and I would get along good

This was high scud last summer
