Anxious to see how you like it. You got the long one correct?
Wed Mar 12, 2014 2:15 pm
Yes. And the new exhaust system is also the classic size as well.

.... and you expect him to admit to having a short one on a public forum?

Good point, though that was the subject of much discussion somewhere else on the web.

Installing tomorrow. The lake is still frozen solid, so I will try to do before and after take-off videos on wheels.

Fantastic! I never had the pre-powerflow experience, so it'll be cool to see.

Pretty sure it's done. I saw the plane on the mechanics strip yesterday as I flew over.

Done.. well mostly
The report is over in the section about mods and mechanical stuffviewtopic.php?f=9&t=3442
Getting out of Gaede Strip after the late afternoon thaw was interesting. The plane is now covered in mud.
I wanted to go to Kenai for fuel, but I had some weird RF coming from a Mag or a spark plug lead. I must have done something during the install or more likely shook something loose during the take-off. So Kenai tower said that could not read me... As a result I puttered over to Soldotna instead where everyone said they could hear me just fine.

I was wondering how that would work out for you, it was looking a little squishy when I flew over. I was on skis or I would have dropped in and checked out the install. I took my plane off the lake and brought it home for the change to wheels when I get back home from work.

I put the old muffler and my heavy tool box in the rear. Plus all my survival gear and other junk in the far back location. Roger said that my nose wheel came off the ground as soon as I gave her full throttle with full back elevator. I was mostly worried about the firewall. Something was soft because I have sand and mud half way up my rudder. I would sure like to figure out why I now have that RF noise over the radio??? I wonder if I shook something loose or splashed water and mud up into something

any chance you may have tugged on a ground wire or something like that while swapping the exhaust? Sounds like a bad ground now. It is possibly just a coincidence but I would suspect a wire got tugged on.

Could be... I need to get motivated and head down to the airport. I hate looking for mystery wiring problems. My lower back has been blown out ever since Roger and I had to push the plane through some soft spots.
