Jackson Seaplane Base McGregor MN Splash In

Sorry for the short notice but I am hosting a splash in at the newly certified Jackson Seaplane Base on Horseshoe Lake in McGregor MN this Saturday July 16, 2016.
I got the based certified with the Feds and the State of MN late this spring. I am finishing up docks and hopefully some mooring balls this week and with my schedule looking bleak for August I decided to pull the trigger on this weekend. I will need you to RSVP (private base permission needed) so I can plan the arrivals at the dock. If you have an anchor it is a shallow mud bottom and anchoring should be easy. Trees line the shore in most spots so we will be tight on beaching spots. Boat traffic is generally light and if you need bigger water than Horseshoe there is a channel connecting to Minnewawa. We can send a tender to meet you and escort you thru the channel (1 way with boats). I still have tree issues (need permits to cut them) on my amphib ramp and will have updates for amphibs on arrival on parking availability (I may have a guy agree to "trim" not remove trees this week).

We are located on NE corner look for south dock near ramp for tenders and parking (see Google docs links below for depictions). 100LL is available at KHZX for amphibs about 8 NM away. We have Mogas on the lake on the NE corner but will need to have a tender there to help you as it is a U shaped pontoon friendly dock that will take a helping hand to nose in to.

We will be ready for arrivals about 10am and depending on numbers we would like to have some contests in the afternoon. Grill will be going all day. We plan on going late into the night with campers and ground pounders. We will be there Sunday also and can call that a rain back up day if needed.

I will have burgers and brats and if you would like to camp I have plenty of room for tents. If you are looking for a painless camping trip for the kids or grandkids this can be it as I have indoor plumbing and plenty of room to spread out. I will provide pancakes in the morning for campers so all you need is a tent and a fart sack. I have limited bunk space also with a bunk house and a few open rooms at my place. Wives and girlfriends are welcome though my wife is a healthy scratch this weekend. Drop me a line for availability.

I hope to get more than a few guys up to splash around and break the base in. Pilot info below.

Shoot I wish I was available! I'm only an hour away. I've flown over to Big Sandy and Glacier from Longville a couple of times in the past few years. Hope it goes well!
