Well, Christmas I will be in North Carolina, but I am happy to provide him (or you) time in a C-172, C-182, C-340A or ASK-21. Need a flight review? No charge to my friends. Instrument Currency Check?

Figuring that I haven't been to the states in nearly 4 years, am homesick like a dog, its not too difficult to compute that I am probably not flying the localCessna 172 rattlebox that is offered for north of 250 Euro's per hour.

Running Seaplanemagazine.com gives me some pretty unique insights and contacts and there is definitely no shortage of invites to go flying. IFT's, flight reviews, try our new plane, floats, GPS, or come visit our factory. I could use a Flight Review, Basic Med (not available) and IPC in the 340, but chances of me being able to pay for a flight to the states, hotels & rental cars in NY are pretty slim.

Being pretty unbiased, I don't intend to do what others do and ask the companies to cover the expenses, because that clouds ones writing.

Being too old and stubborn to pursue any sort of commercial flying at close to 43 years old, I am just now beginning to monetize on my skills, experience and abilities. Contrary to many of my "friends" opinions, I may not be entirely dumb and useless afterall...

So, sure! Rub in that I am not flying at all and feel free to look down on me for sticking to aviation and spending my time with things I feel passionate about, rather than going back into jobs I don't want to have and deal with people I don't want to deal with.

4-5 hours a week is more than many over here get in half a year. My point was to stop worrying about people who make this hobby sour grapes (annuals, childish footstomping morons, politics, useless associations and event clowns) and if you have the coin to buy such people and issues out of your field of vision, do it.

Currently I am trying to sell ads and generate the business to make an appearance in Greenville, for the 45th annual International Seaplane Fly In. Thats not easy to do, even as Seaplanemagazine.com reaches the brightest and darkest spots on planet earth. Lots of old and crusty structures, lots of favoritism.

I am glad that people don't get to see what goes into convincing a company that walks on water (or its Marketing Agency) to support and sponsor something new. The marketing agencies are the worst of the worst.

Add to that, that I am doing what I do without the beloved associations support or blessing and suddenly Seaplanemagazine.com becomes a pretty impressive show.

I'll keep you updated on the progress!

Meet and Greet in Greenville is 25% secured.

Hey, Don't get insulted or think that the comment was looking down on you. It was only in response to your comment about any time not flying is time wasted which came on the heels of Glenn's posts. All of us have reasons we do what we do and not everyone always understands them.

In any case, the invite is open and I have a spare car and a spare bedroom.

I don't get insulted all so easily. You know exactly how much I have been flying since relocating back to Germany. I've spent some quality time in A320 Simulators - thats it.

The sentence "Time spent not flying is time gone" had nothing to do with what Glenn wrote. Its what you feel when you can't afford to fly. Wish I had spent the last 4 years of my life with more offline aviation than online aviation.

Thanks for the offer for both car and housing. I aim for September in Maine.

I guess it was Glenn's response to your note that made it seem that the note was directed at Glenn's original.

In any case, I still love you and hope we get to meet up and fly one of these days. I have a lease on an Apartment in Vienna for three months starting in February so I am sure during that time we can make it happen.

Now, back to the theme of the thread.

OK, Glenn lets see some new ski pictures. Does Cooperstown Plow? If I fly up there in the 172, will you take me for a ski ride?

Very funny to see one of the toothless morons ask how much this would cost the tax payer.

Usually it's better to use air bags and give the water a chance to drain an hour or two before picking the whole aircraft up.

Maybe the wings and horizontal stabilizer didn't get submerged. The fuselage is a little tougher and can handle the water weight better.

I wonder if they were more afraid of the water freezing inside.

Snow and freezing rain here last couple days. I cut firewood and then went for a sled ride, too sore to go flying. Awesome riding.

Exactly, I missed that Klaus. I snowmobile to get to the Cub on Skis, an ATC to get to it on wheels and an airboat to get to the J-4 on floats. And of course the pick up but I do not remember what color it is though I have ridden in it.

Guess your real ski season is about to start then. Do they still plow at Cooperstown?

Looking forward to lots of great pictures.

Didn't they used to plow the runway at Cooperstown? What is the closed airport to you that does plow the runway?

It almost as cold in Manhattan today as at your place.

Do they allow Aircraft Ski operation on Lake George? Haven't been to Winter Carnival in years, but there used to be a highway across the lake at Bolton's Landing, an 18 hole golf course, with the shortest hole being 1,000 yards as well as the ice sailing area etc. Back in the days that I would go there, the ice didn't melt until mid May.

Skis or wheels is ok to visit Lk George. Floats are ok as long as you stay away from the village beach Memorial Day - Labor Day
