Hello folks,
My name is Jeff. I am not yet a seaplane pilot, but hope to be one after next weekend after a couple of days at Brown's Seaplane Base in Winter Haven. my aircraft of choice is a gyrocopter, and I fly an Autogyro MTO Sport, which I hope to get on floats in the near future. Hope to learn as much as I can here.

Hello all!

Recently found this forum while planning my trip up to Greenville this year.

I'm not yet a seaplane pilot, just Private SEL at the moment. I'm currently working as an engineer for a certain large airline in Atlanta, where there's not much seaplane activity around. My family is from Maine though, I hope to head up to Twitchell's to add my seaplane rating sometime in the near future.

I got my private license in September 1982,while trying to figure out what to do with it in 1983 my dad suggested a float rating so I completed that in July & in Stember of 1983 my dad found me a decent Cessna 185 on cap 3000 floats that I still own today.I hope your adventure is successful as mine has been.

Welcome Kevin! I've had my rating for about a year and a half now and it surely is the most fun you can have flying! Be careful, though, once you get hooked you'll end up looking at Trade-a-Plane, Controller, and Barnstormers every day until you've bought one!

Welcome Kevin! - I've heard a ton about Greenville but never been. I've been to Yellowknife a number of times with my floatplane (1000 miles) so Greenville should be an issue either. I'm hoping to retire next year so i'm definitely planning on getting there as soon as i can.

Hello.
Just joined, and this is my first post.
Live by Savona, B.C. Canada.
Been flying fixed wing for 30 years (the first 4 illegally until I got my license )
And rotary wing for 24 years.
In the next few months hope to make my final decision on which kit to buy and build.
Currently flying Helicopters almost daily for work.
And a Seneca V for fun and travel.
The seneca will be sold this spring and replaced with a Cessna 182.
And goal is to build a bush style plane like a Cub crafter or such and put it on floats. And with the option to go to big tundra tires or skis as desired.
Cheers, Fly man.....yes everyone really does call me fly. :CAN:

Welcome aboard Fly,

I'll second the Cub Crafter. Never met an unhappy Cub pilot.

Welcome Fly Man, Nice to hear from you. You will find lots of activity here relating to floats, tundra tires and skis. Not just a Seaplane Forum, especially due to the Seasonality of North America.

Welcome Fly.

Here are a couple of links to consider in your quest to pick an airplane to build.

This link is titled Build a Cub Options and it talks a little about the differences between the different Cub kits

http://www.supercub.org/forum/showthrea ... UB-options

This is a long thread about building a Cub and has a lot of info about why certain things were done and at the end there is a section dealing with the install of the Wipline floats. Long but you can skim read to get out the info you are interested in.

http://www.supercub.org/forum/showthrea ... Javron-Cub

Welcome to a great Seaplane forum and group. Hope this helps

Hi first post here. Was invited over from another forum to remain nameless but we all start out as them before we get our first license....

ANYways....I'm a CFI working out of KRQB and KMKG in West Michigan. Also flight rightseat on a King Air 250 whenever I get the chance. Currently working on my MEI and II hoping to have them done by the end of January weather and work permitting. I don't have my seaplane rating YET but it's on my "mother may I" list for 2016. The school up in KCAD I got my taildragger training at this fall has a seaplane course there that's fairly reputable in the area.

I'm retired from the USAF but was not a pilot, I put the weapons on the aircraft and maintained the systems. Cats...dogs....kids. Garden. Hunt. Boxers. Budweiser.

Guess that covers all the pertinent info. :)

Hey guys first time forum user so forgive me if I'm doing it wrong...I live in Juneau, Alaska and am a 4th generation float pilot here. I fly commercially for Ward Air a charter flying company operating a few turbine otters, recip beavers, c-206's, 180, 185, 310, cub and husky craft. I also slog out the boring D.O. duties. I have a passion for the outdoors and flying floats in this part of the world. I have found it hard to connect with experienced float drivers out there so I figured I'd give this a crack, nice to meet you guys. I've been reading older posts already and cracking up at some of them particularly that Dean Martin & Foster brooks video had me rolling.

Welcome aboard Desmond,
How long have you been with Ward Air? I work seasonally in Juneau, I'll look you up this spring.

Don't be shy, post some pictures and tell some stories about flying in Southeast, AK. This forum has readers around the world that would be very interested in a floatplane pilots life. Many have requested information about getting payed to do what you're doing.

Hey Ho!

Short intro....

I've been flying floats for 3 years, given I live on a lake, the seaplane is right there all summer, literally steps away from the house. Quite a temptation, and I fly every day the weather is nice.

'49 Sedan (SN 403), O-360 conversion (SN 1) , '49 EDO 2000's

She's on wheels for the winter at KOZW.

Glad to be part of the group!

Welcome Harmon

Sedan is a great plane especially w/the 0-360. And you live on a lake. Man, that is living the dream.

Welcome on board.

Welcome, My old partner in the Chief has a sedan on 2000s and I have flown it and really like the plane. Ne only has the Franklin 145, but it is still a great 2 place pane with plenty of weight and space left over for camping gear.
