New floats paint metal parts

Mon Apr 18, 2016 5:48 am

Hi.
I now have my new Aerocet 3400 amphibious floats all assembled but not fitted to the plane yet.
So do we have anyone operating them in salt water- I mean lots not just from time to time?
I know they are brand new and I know the metal parts (mostly aluminum) are anodized. But I can't help thinking that I should take it all apart and paint all the metal. Then I can spray it with ACF-50 etc but at least it's got an extra layer of protection in the paint.
I'm not talking about spreader bars or the general float to aircraft attachment but the undercarriage parts.

Who's got something to say...... But remember I'll be almost exclusively in salt water, not that nice fresh stuff and salt water is really nasty stuff.

Rgds
Mike.

Just like the post you made earlier on hardware, I paint every part with paint then the grease mix.

a film of grease will go a long way to keeping the water and oxygen away.
