Been a while but looks to finally be making progress.Hulls were completely rebuilt including all new bottoms, then painted in snow white.
Currently in the reassembly so a couple of pictures of all the new parts as they go back together. They will be installed on a 1970 A185E & yes I am aware that it will be underfloated & due diligence will be required when operating on the water.

Been a bit,but looks like the Amphibs are getting close to completion as they're about to check the gear retraction & extension.I hope to have a few more pictures in the coming weeks as everything comes together, bit late for this summer but it certainly looks like they are scheduling the plane for the power pack install & plumbing in about 2 weeks.

Close enough that I have another thread about the training hours that global is requiring before allowing solo flight.

Those are the best looking Edo 2790's I've ever seen. Up here in Alaska there is a lot of amphibious floats but few people have gone in so deep. Your work is appreciated by folks like me.
Did you work for about a dollar an hour?

I have paid those in the trade to rebuild these hulls over the last 8 years.Seaflight industries out of Vernon BC replaced the bottoms with new skins & made sure the hulls were better than new.I next had a very good painter do his magic & lastly my mechanic has hired someone to put all the new, anodized, painted parts back together.
It has worn my patience thin, pissed my wife Diane beyond belief because of the costs & caused me much worry on whether it has been worth the troubles.
I have even offered them for sale a few times but no-one wants to pay more than $12,000 cdn for these floats & I've paid out over $40,000 cdn to this point for what will effectively be new Amphibs.
Thanks for the kind words,I hope to have the final picture of them installed in the next month or so,depending out the shops schedule.

Good stuff with the floats!

Daryl - you make it sound like it didn't make sense to do what you did. Since when did anything in aviation financially make sense?
The floats look beautiful so that's really all that matters (it's also likely as important that you didn't get divorced over the project)

You are correct Garth,Diane is the one that didn't think it was worth it but I too have been frustrated with the glacial pace -but had I needed to pay for the bill all at once I would of been strapped for cash for a while.
I can't say that I've done it all in my 33 years of owning this plane ,but I have some amazing stories to tell & a new adventure begins on Amphibs soon.

I'm green with envy. I wish I had the talent to do anything like that.

The only part that I had in rebuilding these Amphibs to their better than new state was having a good job to pay the bill, many mechanics, sheet metal & a painter together have created these beauties.
