GREG HARBAUGH TO SPEAK AT AEROSPACE CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE

SUN ‘n FUN is proud to present NASA Astronaut (retired) Greg Harbaugh on Saturday,

October 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Aerospace Discovery at the Florida Air Museum, 4175

Medulla Road, Lakeland, FL 33811. Mr. Harbaugh is the Keynote Speaker for Aerospace

Discovery Weekend and the general public is invited to the event. There is no cost to

participate in the evening presentation.

Mr. Harbaugh has received numerous awards including Four (4) NASA Space Flight Medals;

NASA’s Exceptional Service, Distinguished Service l, and Exceptional Achievement Medals;

1999 Rotary National Award for Space Achievement “Stellar” Award for Outstanding

Leadership; 1995 American Astronautical Society Flight Achievement Award; and, collegiate

awards that include Johns Hopkins University Presidential Medal; Purdue University

Outstanding Aerospace Engineer and Astronaut Alumnus Award. He also received Aviation

Week and Space Technology Laurels for Shuttle missions STS 39 (1991) and STS 71 (1995)

and Sigma Chi Fraternity’s Significant Sig Award.

His NASA career started, when in 1987 he was chosen as one of the fifteen (15) selected from

2,000 applicants for space missions. After four missions, he accepted the position of Senior

Program Manager of the Extravehicular Activity (spacewalk) Project Office where he was

responsible for all aspects of NASA’s spacewalk industry, including the safe and successful

execution of all spacewalks for the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station,

international relations and negotiations, budget, strategic planning, spacesuits, tools, and

training (including all training facilities). Managed advanced spacesuit technology research and

development for future planetary (Moon and Mars) missions. NASA history shows that Mr.

Harbaugh logged a total of 818 hours in space, including 18 hours, 29 minutes performing

spacewalks. As a licensed commercial pilot with more than 3,000 hours, he continues to be

involved in a professional capacity on advisory boards and serves as the President and CEO

of Sigma Chi Foundation.

Mr. Harbaugh is well known to SUN ‘n FUN because of his employment as Director of the

Florida Air Museum and Chief Operating Officer of SUN ‘n FUN from 2001-2006. He is

married with three (3) daughters and resides in Illinois. Please join us as we welcome him
