HOUSTON - A United Airlines pilot has been arrested for allegedly running a string of brothels in office buildings around the Houston area.
Bruce Wayne Wallis, 51, stands accused of running about a half-dozen houses of prostitution, using online advertisements to promote his illicit businesses and charging women $400 a week to sell sex through his operation.
The offices used as brothels were located in otherwise legitimate buildings, authorities said.
United Airlines officials say that Wallis has been removed from flying duties and that they’re cooperating with authorities investigating the crimes. Although the airline wouldn’t confirm it, sources say his job as a pilot had nothing to do with his brothel business.
The Texas Department of Public Safety led the months-long investigation with the help of the Houston Police Department’s vice division.
Wallis was scheduled to appear in court in downtown Houston Thursday afternoon.
