With the new technology coming on as Klaus pointed out as well as the ever increasing growth of drone use, especially targeted at commercial applications, there will be a need for more attention by the ATC bunch, which also means intelligent and well trained personnel. I think that a well run private group COULD get the job done, and maybe even better that a Federal group, but only if the bottom line is not important, which I know would never happen. So I mostly am against this not over the principal that privatization may do it better, but over the worry that the services will be either cut (especially to GA) or added tariffs will be added and increased for use of the skies over America.
I ran a division of TNT in the Western Hemisphere for 8 years and was exposed to the Privatized Postal Service that TNT ran in 5 European Countries as well as Australia and New Zealand. The whole thing at least looked pretty slick. I got to be at the ringing of the opening bell on Wall Street the day that we took the company public. There was a lot of fanfare about the Postal Service (at the TNT, little known in America, TNT was the Second largest over night package and freight delivery company and the single largest handler of Domestic and International Air Mail).
So, I will ask Chris and Jason, since they are in areas serviced by private Post. How is it working? I truly never knew if the Hype, was in todays terms - Fake News (or a lie in the old terms) or true.
